About Us

Welcome to WHBC! As Academic Principal, I am delighted to be able to offer you the opportunity to discover what the school has to offer in terms of our high quality, internationally recognised programmes of study, at all levels from primary to high-school, with pathways to the highest level institutions of further education both around the world and here in China. Moreover, I invite you to learn about our school community: about our students past and present, and their achievements, in both academic and extra-curricular fields of activity. I hope you will also take time to acquaint yourself with my colleagues whose efforts, expertise and commitment to the highest quality of service have made us second to none in China as a centre of excellence for students wishing to establish the best possible foundation for an undergraduate education overseas.

I have had the privilege of being associated with the school in teaching and academic management for more than a decade and had the opportunity to watch it expand to offer a wider range of courses, to introduce new academic disciplines, and to cater to a wider age range among our students. I can also take pride in having played my part in helping to guide many of the thousands of students who have successfully passed through the school on their way to some of the most prestigious universities in more than fifteen countries worldwide.

As the school enters its third decade, it has established itself as one of the most successful institutions of its type in China, offering a complete educational package for students from primary years onwards with internationally recognised courses leading to university entrance overseas: all of them taught by our international team of highly-qualified and very experienced academics reinforced by a highly trained and knowledgeable team of school counsellors and support staff. The school is a well established CAIE and IELTS testing centre, we offer IB recognised courses leading up to the Diploma examinations, and run a very successful AP programme. In addition we host regional heats of many international educational competitions, as part of our commitment to producing well rounded students with a broad range of interests.
